Miami Airport arrivals directions

Depending on which flights you are interested in, local or international, you can easily find out which terminal exactly you need:

  • North (Concourse D) handles both local and international arrivals. Also, this terminal manages Miami Airport arrivals of American Airlines.
  • Central (Concourses E, F, and G) serves only local flights.
  • South (Concourses H, J). Lobby H handles local and transnational flights, while Lobby J is used only for international ones.

Domestic arrivals at MIA Airport

All travelers arriving on a domestic flight will be on Level 2. To collect luggage you need to go down to Level 1. You can easily get to the place of your aim in the city upon arrival at Miami Airport using a rental car, taxi, or shared van. Once you pick up your luggage, take a shuttle to get to your car rental company outside the Baggage Claim area.

Miami transnational arriving at Lobby E will guide travelers to U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Passport Control (this does not apply to travelers from Canada or the Bahamas!). Once cleared at Customs, passengers can collect their luggage on Level 1 of the Terminal. Those passengers with several flights, which are booked under distinct tickets, can check their baggage in the Interline Lobby.

International arrivals at MIA Airport

Travelers of transnational arrivals at Miami Airport at Lobby J will exit U.S. Customs on Level 3 of the South Terminal. To collect the luggage, rent a car or take a taxi, they should go down to the Ground level (Level 1). Travelers which have a connecting flight should proceed to Level 2 using the elevator. In order not to stand in tedious queues and to save time, fill out Federal Inspection Forms correctly.

  • First, copy the data on your ticket for sections asking for your Airline, flight number, and city of origin.
  • Then put the name of the hotel or city where you will be staying in the section about the U.S. address.
  • Declare everything that is required. If you have nothing to declare, you are still required to complete all the Customs forms.
  • Don't forget to fill in the departure record on the bottom of the I-94 form and on the back of the green I-94 forms.
  • Sign the form and date it.

Information on connecting flights at MIA Airport

So, if you are a transnational traveler with several flights out of Miami towards a destination within the U.S., you need to collect your bags at baggage claim, go to the drop-off counter of your airline and go to Customs.

MIA Airport consists of 3 terminals and 8 lobbies with gates to access the US Customs and Border Protection office. MIA has an excellently developed infrastructure and provides a huge number of services for travelers upon Miami International Airport arrival.

Tourist Information Centers at MIA Airport

If you have questions about services or Miami Airport arrival flights, you can contact the staff at the counters or call 305-876-7000. The main counter can be found on Level 2, at Central Terminal E. It opens daily from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. Other ones are located throughout terminals D, E, H, and J. Services provided by counters include:

Miami Airport transportation

Concourse D is a mile long and it will take at least 30 minutes to cover this distance on foot. If you want to get faster, or you travel with the elderly or children, take the train.

  • SkyTrain operates within the airport's Concourse D and links the terminals. It arrives around every 3 minutes and has 4 stations, spaced a quarter-mile apart. Each station has 2 lobbies - one for local and one for international travelers.
  • MIA Mover is another option that connects passengers on arrival flights at Miami International Airport to different lounges. It is a free train that will quickly take you to the central depot. There you can access the Metrobus and trains (the stop is on Level 3).
